How do you book a newborn shoot before baby is born?

Let me tell you about my booking process. When you book a Newborn Session with me you can either start by inquiring via my contact page or by making a booking on my self booking page. Don’t worry – in either instance you won’t have to choose a date for the session yet.

Dad holds his newborn son in his lap for a photo shoot.
A big brother holds his twin newborn brothers in his lap and kisses one of them on the head.

If you emailed me first I will ask you what your due date is or if you booked already you will have filled out the questionnaire which asks for your due date. With this information I will hold space on my calendar, give or take about 2 weeks, near your baby’s expected arrival date. This helps me predict what my editing work load will look like during that month.

Once baby arrives and you feel up to it, you can let me know that you’d like to set up a session date. For the best chance of getting those sleepy baby photos, scheduling in the first 2 weeks after baby’s birth is ideal but not required. Sometimes factors like a NICU stay or a traumatic birth requiring extra healing time can delay the photo session but don’t be discouraged! Any time is the right time to take photos with your little one.

The best time to inquire about a session is in your second trimester.
